Having two roommates who live in Brazil you would think I could learn new cooking techniques or get new recipes, alas, the girls don't cook. How can you not cook, I asked them everyday - you can make chicken and grilled cheese!!! Cris can't help it - her husband cooks for her and I think Aline's parents do the same. I do have to say that while she was here, Aline did become a good "Cooker". And I did teach Cris to make chicken enchiladas. I was looking through my cookbooks one day however and came across a recipe for Brazilian Fish Stew or Mokaykah. I asked the girls since our birthdays were in October if they would like to celebrate with just the three of us and have the meal cooked by the non-Brazilian. Although it had shrimp in it and I hate the stuff, I bought that and the halibut that was required, coconut milk, peppers, and garlic - lots of garlic. Aline made rice - we made a salad (since we can never eat a meal without lettuce :) We also drank some Brazilian wine that was delicious. I was very proud when they said I made it taste just like home - go me!
