Musical - Little Women

My musical event, which for anyone that knows me, I will be attending more than one! I went with Dede and Luz to the Kennedy Center, which is beautiful, to see Little Women. I had my doubts about this show because come on - how can you turn such a classic book into a musical. Granted I know that it has been done before - but these days people are running out of original thought and the musical world is not filled with Oscar and Hammerstein or Kern or Kander and Ebb, so to my amazement, I enjoyed it emensley. It was a great story line and just like any other time I read Little Women or watch any one of the movie versions, I cried my eyes out when Beth died and Jo and Laurie part ways, and most especially when AUnt March doesn't take Jo to Europe - that part just kills me. Jo is such a strong character and I would love an opportunity to play her - whether its a movie or musical. I also have the soundtrack and its great as well. Maureen McGovern is wonderful when she sings Alone. Dede, Luz and I have decided we are going to start a theater club and try to go at least every other month. THey have some great things coming up in the area including a play - Twelve Angry Men and an opera - Madame Butterfly - so I can complete my cultural goal yet.
