For my next historical place visit I went to Woodlawn Plantation, which was built by the Washingtons for the grand-daughter of Geroge who married the nephew of George Washington. Sounds incesteous, but really the two had no blood relation. The fascinating thing about the house is that it is perfectly symmeterical - meaning that the left side is a flip side of the right side - that took some pretty advanced engineering in those days. Its crazy because as you are going through the house you can just see this differece. I always wonder too how they fit so many people in those houses because it seems very small to seem comfortable. The tour guides were very imformative and I actually did learn something. Also on site of the property is the Pope Leighy House which is a design of Frank Lloyd Wright. Also showing is a picture of me in front of Alexandria's city hall.
