Buche de noel

So I cheated a little and I made my buche de noel over Christmas Eve. It turned out to be beautiful and delicious - i will post pictures as soon as i get them from my mummy. I was very proud of myself and make it a goal to make something that has several different components to it such as a sachertorte. So what I did was this: Friday when I got home, I made a genoise cake, just plain white. Then Saturday morning I got up and made meringue mushrooms, which if you don't know - you make the stems separate from the caps and then assemble them to look just right. then i made a moistening syrup with cherry liquer and sugar and a chocolate ganache to put on the inside of the genoise cake. Then you roll the cake, coat it with more ganache, assemble the mushrooms and put them around the "log" and voila - you have a traditional buche de noel. And it tasted yummy!!!!

Progress on reading: i have finished two on my list - shopaholic and sister and In Her Shoes. I have also made some progress on my address book - everybody needs to update!
